graver1 08-26-2007, 11:00 PM That is really impressive!! What kind of press was used to stamp this?
Will you be doing precious metals also? 50 yrs ago I worked on a percussion stamping press for a guy who made Silver and gold commemorative coins. His hobs were made on a pantograph. What a different world it is.
screenzzzz 08-27-2007, 06:39 AM Very nice clean pressing, good detail, I'm impressed.
By the way, "where is the union of north america"??? Did something happen while I was sleeping or are these just game coins?

screenzzzz 08-27-2007, 08:30 AM Thanks Switcher,
Phew, am I glad the definition you posted is hypothetical, I guess that means the coin is hypothetical as well!
Switcher 08-27-2007, 09:12 AM Don't believe everything you read over at wikipedia, I read an article that a guy found out how to trace the edits that are made on wikipedia back to the editors IP address, he found that a few corporate IP address were changing things on the site, one of them was about the Exxon Valdez, & how that area had the best fishing in years (Mmmm oil) :)
Wikipedia is ok, most articles are only opinion (but then, what isn't)?

Go to this website and type in North American Union and find out how close it is to being real and not just hypothetical.

(nuts)
Jerry Hicks 08-27-2007, 09:13 AM I think this is way too scarry. The North American Union is NOT a rumor but in fact an agreement moving forward under our illustrious President, mexico, and canada.
I think the work on this coin is teriffic work but why was it done in the 1st place? Who really commissioned it? Or is just a total coincidence?
Need more info? Just google north american union and get a wake up call of your very own.
Jerry Hicks 08-27-2007, 09:51 AM Check the web or google more on this North american union. Its NOT a hoax and it is quite scarry but its happening.
Nice coin and design but is it really just a fantasy?
I think not for long. Was this commissioned or just a total coincidence?
HUMMM??
As reported now several times this agreement exists, was never voted on, and is moving forward.
All part of a global design consolidation so keep your eyes open on this one.
dcarr 08-27-2007, 12:12 PM This is not a "commissioned" work. I conceived, designed, sculpted, and engraved it myself. In addition to developing the VS3D software, I like to make interesting coins and medals. This is sort of a "what if ?" fantasy piece (there are collectors who specialize in things like this).
The coin is my work, but the proposals for a Union of North America are not. I have no association with the people behind that.
Here is the best write up about the whole affair:

My dies were used in a coinage press (not sure of the brand of press) to strike the medals with about 150 tons of force.
I've already done some in silver. I'm planning an issue of five different copper sizes from 25mm to 38mm, three silver sizes, and two gold sizes. There will be five different (but similar) designs in all.
Here is the 38mm silver:

foam27 08-27-2007, 12:44 PM WHY would you make that coin? ! !
You either do not understand what it represents, or are not AMERICAN.

I know what it represents and I am an American.
I would be in favor of a Union of North America only if the US Constitution was carried over in tact. But that would be unlikely since parts of the constitution are ignored as it is.
But the French are still French even though they are part of the "Euro". France didn't disappear, it just shares the same currency as Europe.
In some ways, I think it is inevitable that regional currency blocks will evolve. Personally, I prefer commodity-based currency rather than the fiat debt (labor) backed Federal Reserve currency.
But my coins have certainly had one of the desired effects I had hoped for. They have increased the public awareness regarding this issue.
foam27 08-27-2007, 02:25 PM WTF...
It's more than just coin...
Nafta Superhighway from Mex thru US to Canada,
borders wide open, and a new Identification Card for you and me.

Well, the whole issue is a LOT more than just a coin. My part is simply the coin itself. I don't endorse what is going on and I'm not affiliated in any way with the organizations involved.
The borders are already wide open.
Mexican trucks are already passing through.
We already have identification cards.
We already have NAFTA.
An official currency "Union of North America" might not really change things all that much. But I'm not the one to ask about that.
foam27 08-27-2007, 02:47 PM Yeah you don't endorse it, you're just assisting, and surely not disagreeing with it all.
The borders are not wide open, last time I checked, passports are still required and customs paperwork.
Our ID cards now do not have an RFID microchip implanted in them, and sure as hell do not look like the picture below....
The chip is located just below the picture on the ID.....
......you like the Rockefeller all seeing eye in the backround of the ID?

No, not "assisting". I don't really care one way or another. I don't think it will make much difference. But note that my coins are sold at amerocurrency.com (a public awareness NAU/Amero site).
lovebugjunkie 08-27-2007, 03:23 PM Put a 30 second add on TV. Say they are from a long lost sunken treasure ship found off the cost of Mexico. Say that these once very valuable coins are soon to be put back into circulation. You are willing to sell them for half price. Limit 5 to an order.

Relax, man. Try deep breathing or something. Haven't you ever made something just for the sake of doing it? Besides, after Baby Bush, how much worse can it get? :stickpoke
I, for one, think it's a very cool piece of art. Tell us more about your software, if you please, DCARR.
rmsimoes 08-27-2007, 05:28 PM just for curiosity, does your machine operates, with steppers or with servos?

Hmmm... Maybe I shouldn't have put a "2007" date on them ?

Not to worry, you will still get some orders.
If people will buy a coin that the lights on a vet will light up, they will buy anything.

Servos. Galil motion controller.

Thanks,
you are exactly right, mostly I did this project just for the sake of doing it (to see if I could). Of course, selling some to collectors is an added bonus :)
The VS3D software home page is here:

Here is the overview brochure:

There is also a VS3D forum here at CNC Zone (not much action there, though).

I've already sold about 150, but it is slowing down now that the internet buzz surrounding the coins has quieted down.
But Coin World newspaper will be running a story on them, and I haven't gone the eBay route yet (but I will fairly soon).
PS:
I saw that Corvette coin ad - kind of neat - but I own El Caminos, not Corvettes.
wolfdagon 12-20-2007, 01:41 AM Great work on the coins. I looked at the other ones you have at www.amerocurrency.com and they are very impressive. Hopefully it will remain fantasy.
I would be interested in seeing other coins you have made (non-amero).
rmsimoes 12-20-2007, 02:58 PM with small coins, just let your imagination work.

PS:
I also designed the New York and Rhode Island state quarters for the US Mint.

Did anyone read the info on that card (http://www.cnczone.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=42730&d=1188244047)?
For eyes, it reads "Glassy", hmmm..., one drink to many Mr. Legislator?
It also has a place for religion, mine would read something like, "Nunya D@#% Business". ;)

diecutter 12-22-2007, 04:06 PM dcarr, What do the two mint marks on the Ameros represent? One is a capital D and the other is an interlinked set of letters which I think I have seen on a private mint released token though I may be mistaken. I think your 20 amero coin (eagle side) was flashed on the screen during the 12-19-07 broadcast of Out There TV without and explaination given. If you put an ad on that program the orders should fly in since it's 100% government conspiracy topics. By the way great job on these tokens.

Thanks,
I was born in Denver, not far from the Denver Mint (and my first name starts with "D"), so I often use a symbolic "D" mint mark. The other symbol is my "DC" logo - which stands for my company "Designs Computed" and my name "Daniel Carr" (and also "Denver Colorado"):

I may check out that "Out There TV" thing. I've received plenty of free advertising already, from the likes of Fox Business Network, Coin World, snopes.com, several major newspapers, and some radio talk shows.
