I have searched to no avail, and cannot find a controller that fits my needs.

I have a Mitek VBM-50 Bed Mill that I would like to retrofit from the current Acramatic 2100 to a more updated solution.

The only problem I am having is finding servo controllers.

I need controllers rated for 12.9 amp continuous / 23 amp peak and 180VDC that can be controlled by a step/direction signal. All of the controllers I have looked at that take step/direction commands won't handle the voltage or current necessary...

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

I have 3 A2100 powered lathes and they are great. I wish they still made them.
I also have 1 machine that is running Mach 3 and servos.
I would expect that if you complete the project, you would not consider it an update. Just my opinion.
Mach 3 is awesome. It is definately more versatile than most commercial controls, but it can't compete on the performance side yet. Hopefully in the future.
If you do gut the A2100 please send me an e-mail, maumeemachine@hotmail.com
I would be interested in the whole system, if the price is reasonable.
Thanks,
Kent

You could run those motors with the BSD810A driver.
You can buy them from MCP Ltd
