first off if this is the wrong place for this please let me know. i need to cut some sintered tungsten. i have looked on the internet and found feeds and speeds for regular tungsten, and i guess they will have to work, at least for a starting point. the website i found said this:
Milling - Carbide cutters are suggested.
Roughing - feeds of .007" to .015" per tooth at speeds of 200 to 400 SFM
Finishing - feeds of .003" to .010" per tooth at speeds of 300 to 700 SFM
i am using a .5" 4 flute endmill. now for my (really stupid) question, it says .015" per tooth, does that mean the total feed rate will be .06 ipm? or am i not looking at this right? i usually use the material selection feature in my nc software to get close but there isn't a tab for tungsten.
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
John
