That's a cool site. I found an online swedish to english translator. It translates your site from swedish to something that sounds more like the swedish chef from sesame street than english. . . but it's amusing.

Pretty hard core- I like these guys! We should invite them here. Hey Bent, give the boys thumbs up and tell them about our Anti-MDF Coalition- we're battling the evil and need all the heavy machinery we can get!

Or, you can ask me if there's anything in the thread you want to have translated. But actually, the posts doesn't say much technically. The pictures says it all. :)

--Sven, a lot better in speaking Swedish than the Swedish chef. ;)

i guess the design could be done better if metallic frame was built welded (or bolted ) as one piece and then cemented . At least cement shrinkage could better be compensated .

opinions ?

At least you can cast something bigger than the door way.
Comes with the house!
Wife says "how will I sell it when you die?".
Turn on the spin drier while concrete is setting (assuming house not on a slab
or drier not mounted on pillars).

did someone try to cover concrete with epoxy (or any other isolation ) once it got dried ? (to stop water absorption ) .

Yup. :)
Works pretty well, but there are clear coats that are both more healthy and easier to work. I need to buy one for a project that is used for sealing sinks made in concrete.

And cheaper, by the way...

You can use any 2 component clear coat or colour, I've been making a bunch of concrete benches and kitchen sinks and it even works well with standard floor oil/wax.
I have a concrete bench in my kitchen (360 kg :) ) and I have only coated it once. This one is with a standard oil wax for wooden floors. I used it because we put food on the bench and the wax is not dangerous. I have another clear coat specifically for concrete, You can find it in a well equipped paint store. It's not even 2K, just a PUR-clear coat.
Like I said, anything will do. Concrete sucks it up like a spunge.

While I only speak english, I was able to follow the thread pretty well. I guess we should not be so surprised that the discussions were more or less the same as we have here
- stepper motor to use
- drivers
- microstepping detailed pics
- and of course, people like us willing to try something a bit different.

I like the concrete concept, but I have to admit that Walter's EG pours are just so smooth and cool compared to concrete.

I am a little unclear on the benefits the concrete base will have for a moving table machine. Is the assumption that the base will just kill any vibration coming through it, and the the changes with temp are small ?

There's one big difference as I see it. They have been more "let's do it, trial 'n' error!", and here the discussions and trials have been ongoing to create the optimal construction, fine tuning, best mix etc.
Both are fun by the way, I don't see something wrong any version... :)
