I am having trouble understanding what encoder and mpg are for my cnc
I am using mach3 and trying to configure the cnc and computer and came to this section and am lost. Mike 1 772 489 4011 home 1 772 332 3485 cell

Encoder is a position/direction device attached to servo's or servo driven mechanism to indicate to the drive or closed loop controller the servo position.
MPG is manual pulse generator, which is essentially an encoder operated by hand to index the servo's in a manual step fashion.
I am not sure wether this is what you wanted?

Al The Man, When I am in mach3 config file, ports and pins, Encoder/MPGs window it has Encoder 1 A -port # A-Pin# B-port# B-Pin # counts/unit
Encoder 2 A -port # A-Pin# B-port# B-Pin # counts/unit
