Does anyone know the voltage going to the monitor for a series 1 with heidenhain 151 control?

I know it is an inverted hercules monochrome signal, and the control runs on 120 volts, but never checked what the operating voltage is

thanks I think that will help me get started with fixing it.

The majority of older CNC monitors are TTL , also in many cases the horizontal oscillator will not run with out the H. Sync signal present. (blank screen).

The manuals on the heidenhain site will tell you the pinout of the monitor, but nothing on monitor guts. If the control is not putting out video, it is the video chip, available pretty cheaply, if that is the case I will go get the number for you

I believe the 151 monitor uses about 11 volts dc.Some have an onboard power supply but it sticks in my mind that some get it from a card.

Brian, here is the link to the 150 maintenance manual. If you look at the flow chart for testing the vdu you will see it has an 11 volt supply. If you have 250 volts at the monitor I can understand why it`s not working. Are you sure the 250 volts is not the supply to the Heid box which has another power supply inside it for reducing the voltages.

mark, 240v to control and 240v to vdu model 114 I think
sent monitor to omi-monitors.co.uk repair £70 if I need a new tube add £80.
a lot better than £445 for a recon.

I still have an old BBC monitor that I might try to hook up. a chap from a well known repair company admitted to using BBC monitors in some cnc machine repairs

Brian, there`s a psu in the vdu that drops the volts to 11.
I give my monitors to a local tv guy.Last one was £40,one before it was £30.No packing, put it in motor, drive to the shop, get it back two days later.

Brreid says,
"heidenhain no longer supplies 145,150,151 monitors and offer touchscreens £1500 so grab any monitors for spares"

Brian, does that mean I should buy that one that`s on Ebay just now? :-)

No Mark,
because you dont have a 145 Heidenhain control and I wouldn't like to see you waste money
