Hi guys,
I sure could use some help with a strange problem I'm having with my set-up. A little history first - I'm setting up and building my first CNC router. I am using a Xylotex 3-axis driver board along with DeskCNC software and their controller along with three 497 oz. steppers. I'm running the the software with a Windows 98 O.S.
Back in January of this year, I hooked everything up and all was working fine. Due to my job, I had to leave it for several months. I left everything hooked up just the way it was - nothing was touched during that time. When I went back to it recently to start it up, I cannot get the steppers to run. I have checked everything as far as the connections, voltages, software parameters, etc. Nothing has changed! When I start the software, the motors lock up like they're supposed to and the blue light flashes on the controller like it's supposed to, but when I try to jog the motors from the keyboard, I get no movement except for a small pulse step. This is happening on all three axis. If I try to run a sample program, the motors do make noise if I put my ear close to them just like if they were actually working except that there is no movement at all. I have checked the serial cable, the ribbon cables and the motor connections for breaks but they all appear to be solid. I have checked with people at both DeskCam and Xylotex and I have checked some things as they suggested but still no luck in getting the motors to turn. I am really baffled by this! It's probably something minor that I've overlooked. If anyone out there can give me some ideas as to what I could do I sure would appreciate it. Thanks.
Dennis
