This is just a note to let you know that I am waist deep in building the JOE-2006. I am doing everything by hand as I have no CNC equipment. I made my own breakout board and drivers using the toner transfer method of making the circuit boards and drilling and soldering them by hand. By the way I started working on that project in July 06. I have all the materials on hand to build my power supply. Kudos to Pminmo.com for their driver designs. Then I started looking for a router design. I could not imagine one better than Joe's. One year later and I am beginning to see the project come together. It has been such fun to do it all myself (except for the design, which is really great). I have worked on this in my spare time, around hospitalization for Guillian-Barre syndrome, disability retirement because of Alzheimer's, and nerve damage from 2 attacks of Guillian-Barre. I always look forward to doing something else on the project. I intend to put big red flashing lights that flash anytime power is applied to my router. I don't want to forget it is on and rout away any of my body parts, they all have enough trouble. I have read, and read, and reread posts about drivers, motors, power supplies, Joe builder's posts, these keep me motivated and answer questions I am too dumb to ask. Your successes keep me believing I can do it too. Thanks to the entire CNC community and to Joe in particular for designing something a beginner can actually build. Keep up the wonderful work.

Ditto on the congrats Don!!! Best of luck with project!! I too am in Alabama, up near Huntsville. Been doing CNC as a hobbie for almost four years now, this is my second CNC project, my first was a highly modified "PipeDream" built with what ever I could find. I crashed it just recently for the last time making parts for Joe's, so am having to build parts by hand now. Slow process for me, no shop here, just a small cabin in the woods. Just something I enjoy doing when time and health permits it. Guess we all love the challenge of it and it does keep our minds thinking. I work around CNC machines everyday at work, do fabrication of sheet metal parts and operate a CNC burn table at work. I love the hobbie but not too keen on doing it for a living, doing 500 parts of the same thing gets real boring fast!! Guess I like doing my own thing with it when I want...LOL Have built my own PCB's by milling them, I'll be using Dave's HobbieCNCPro 3-axis board, Keling 425 oz. steppers, 24volt 10A switching power supply, Mach3 driver, SheetCam for making G-code from my own designs done in DesignCad3D software. Been doing it this way for a couple years now so its all proven equipment and works great for me. I have a thread on here also with pictures of what I've got done so far on Joe's design, I'll be changing it some but basically its still a joe's design. Anyway, welcome to the group.....

Cheers
