building my first machine-[plasma machine] --trying to find best price for movement--someone on 1 of the other forums said www.stdsteel has good prices--would anyone know what the price range is ---building a 5x10 table

Generally speaking, you are looking about 25 bucks for 4 feet of 20 pitch rack, some places are even more than that. I bought mine from McmasterCarr for 28 bucks per 4 foot length.
The gears vary in price from 12-30 dollars at Mcmaster.
I personally use a 20 tooth gear, I think they are 13 bucks each.

when you buy 4 ft sections are they designed where you can link them together---also are they predrilled for mounting--i take it you have used these before ,what did you use for your motors did you need gear reduction??thanks for the info the site link

I got mine at Standard Steel and the price was 20-25 bucks for a 6' piece.

any ideas for the steppers i should use and mounting to the gear track-thanks
