Does anyone know if and how to run desk through USB cable?

Remove the wires in the USB cable leaving only the jacket. Apply a coarse sanding wheel to the desk and grind it completely down to sawdust. Use the USB cable as a straw to suck up the sawdust. This will take a while but you eventually will run the entire desk through the USB cable.

Hi Mariss,
I tried your suggestion but found the course sanding disk dust blocked the cable a but to much - I had to suck quite hard, and my eyes bugged a little. I switched to a finer grade of disk and found this worked much better though I now have a terrible hacking cough - I think I may have splinters.

You probably used the wrong USB cable, the newer ones allow faster transfer so probably allowed too much sawdust to flow, stick to the older legacy USB1.0 or earlier and you should be fine...
