Hey guys
I am looking to retrofit a KM-1 and just wanted to make sure that
my overall speed would not be affected by a step/direction style of control.

I have a memory board problem and 1 bad drive. My mill doesn't support
G code so it seems sensible to just upgrade to newer drives and controls
rather than repair it when its highly likely that something else is going to fail
sooner than later..

Every day I read more and more posts and manuals and I have a better
understanding of how the conversion will fair with my mill.
I just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly.

If you don't mind taking a look at this post as well and verify that
I am correct in my estimates...

Check my math for a Knee Mill conversion...

Do you have the B or BX control on your machine?
