I have 2 CNC Bridgeports,
The previos owners were nice enough to create some "milling memories" In the tables. One is not as bad as the other, but they both have marks/cuts at least .04" deep.
What options are there to get these table flat again?
Is milling the table a good option? I do it with my router so why not the mill?
Thank you for any feedback,

Is it really necessary? Provided vises and fixtures are touching the table surface at the places the bolts or clamps are located marks or grooves in other locations do not affect accuracy.

I have plugged it and honed the surface on a few bridgeports worked great lot of honing but couldnt tell the diffrence.

Thanks for the replies,
There is enough room to get vises on the table but I am looking at milling some larger flat pieces.
Binzer,
What did you use to plug the holes?
Thanks,

cut more, I don't know if your familiar with the technique but metal stitching can fill hole or close cracks. I used to work for a company that did this for field repairs. Company was called "Metal Surgery" in Milwaukee WI.

I wouldn't bother trying to "mass drill and plug" the bad spots on the table, particularly grooves, as this just further weakens the casting, and adds stress to the top, with the risk of introducing a stress bend in the top of the table.

To mill flat plates on the table usually requires spacing the part off the table anyways, because you don't want to do the same thing as the last crew :D. Any residual warp in your workpiece will remain if you warp it down to the flat table, and machine it, then let it spring back.
