Im getting alarm with a 165 which is "X ZERO RET MARGIN TOO SMALL"
Manual said the X home / limit switche is moved or misaligned.
Is this something that can be easily fixed ? or do I have to get a tech to do it?

It is also possibly a sticky switch. Your machine will have a microswitch so you should take off the way covers to find it and see if there is a build up of gunk and chips around it.
We have had this on an older MiniMill; my fix was to give the switch a good rap on the side with a plastic hammer which stopped it sticking and it has worked fine for the past six months.
Once you have found the switch I think you will see you could replace it.

Thanks Geof I will take a look at getting at the switch tonight and see if it just needs some cleaning.

My two favorite repair techniques; clean it and/or hit it with a plastic hammer :) .
Our fancy Kaeser compressor stopped compressing Friday morning and the telephone diagnosis from the tech was a sticky solenoid valve in the unloading system. Solution; open door, find one and only one solenoid valve visible, couple of good bangs with plastic hammer, compressor starts compressing again. Cross fingers and hope it keeps doing it which it did for the rest of the day...the real test comes on Monday :) .

On machines of that age and maybe younger you will probably find the motor and limit switch cable have become brittle on the X-axis. In time this will cause cable failure and possible other component damage.
I believe a new limit switch is part of the cable assembly.
On brush type machines carbon accumulates in the servo motors and is a problem. These motors should be cleaned out periodically. We vacuum and then blow out the remaining carbon.
Also a problem on the X-axis motor is coolant leaking into the motor. We put an aluminum shield over the top of the motor to solve this problem.
