I have one or two questions from this post http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38904&highlight=belt+pulley
Do you think 3/8" wide XL .20 pitch belt (A6R 3-C037)
https://sdp-si.com/eStore/Direct.asp?GroupID=214
For the pulleys I was looking at (A 6A 3-12DF03708)
Im using stepper motors that are 127 oz-in 1.8 DEG 3.6vdc 2 AMP 1.8R
Will this belt and pulley jive together for a good combo on a hot wire.
Thanks for any help.

Mark,
I am not sure how you are going to set up your belt drives or if you are going to use them in conjuction with lead screws. 12 ft. is a long ways and just to get rid of any whipping motion will need to be looked at. Using a hot wire you don't have to be as accurate as a mill or router but be within 1/32" would be good. Any closer and your wire heat will also come into play with your tolerances.
I built mine as an RC modeler and used 3/8-16 leadscrews which are 4ft. and used 84 oz. steppers. I also used the Hobby cnc 4 axis pro board for controls.
Not sure if I can be of much help but would answer any questions if I am able to do so.

John,Im going to try the belt and pulleys the lead screw is too much $$. slow as the hot wire moves I think the belts will be ok.The set up is going to have the motor and pulley running back and forth on the open end belt fixed to the for the X. Im going to be cutting surfboard blanks 6' to 11'6" that will be shaped by hand or with a router so 1/32 or evan 1/16 will be good.Ill keep you posted.
Thanks for the input.
