Trying to consider the options. Between a couple reccomendatons and what I read, I went ahead and purchased an X3 mill... hope I made the right decision. Now to move on to prepping to convert it to CNC.

I am new to this, but I take on fast, so mind my initial ignorance. Could someone lay out the controller requirements to use servo as opposed to steppers?


Also, those with simalar setups, what do you use as far as steppers? From what I have gathered, high torque steppers lack any type of top end and in some instances, they make less torque up top than some smaller motors. What is the best trade off? What type of holding torque should I be looking for when buying steppers for an X3?

I was looking into some 425oz/in steppers if anyone was curious as to what my thoughts were.
