What would the G/M code look like for probeing an O.D.? Dr Honda 06-17-2007, 06:06 AM It should come up in your VQC menu. The code generated from that will just be a few lines. And that will call the probing macros. Without being in front of my machine, I can’t give any more details than that. Sorry. paptep 06-17-2007, 06:07 AM I'm sorry, but I don't know what a VQC menu is. Cory 06-17-2007, 03:14 PM I'm sorry, but I don't know what a VQC menu is. Go to 'edit' press 'prgrm conversational' 3 times hit F2 and scroll down. Ours are at the very bottom. paptep 06-18-2007, 02:03 PM O.K. I now know what VQC menu is, I also have fiound the O09XXXX files. What I can't figure is how to turn the probe on/off and the g code program required to find the center of an O.D. and zero out at that loc. Cory 06-18-2007, 03:38 PM O.K. You don't have to turn it on and off--the macros do it for you. And if you press edit, then program conversational 3 times, if you have the templates on your machine you should be able to find one that says something like "Haas Mill VCQ Probe Inch/MM" Once you find those templates, you should see one that does exactly what you're asking. paptep 06-18-2007, 04:06 PM Thanx, I will see if I can find that info tommorro at work. I will post as to how well I am able to find and use the info. Phil Al_The_Man 06-18-2007, 04:16 PM One piece of advise when probing, if you have a probe loaded, it should only be moved to peliminary position by what Renishaw refer to as a protected move, which is essentially an anti-collision move. IOW you may program a G0 that could cause the probe to collide with a part or jig etc. The protected move is usually a macro that has the G31 in it. If no collision occurs, then it arrives at the desired position, otherwise it will stop before any damage. There should be a macro that is labeled accordingly. Al. paptep 06-19-2007, 02:45 PM I opened the editor today and there are no references to any probe cycles. It shows g73 High speed peck,g81 g82,g83,g84,bolt hole patterns ,etc. I did unlock the 9xxxx programs and by calling one up was able to start the probe, but I'm thinking there must be some template or g code that needs to be invoked to get the job done. The operators manual doesn't show me much along these lines. Thanx in advance for any helpful input. Phil HaasTech83 06-19-2007, 06:27 PM Go to 'edit' press 'prgrm conversational' 3 times hit F2 and scroll down. Ours are at the very bottom. Select VQCPSV1.8, and like cory said it is probaby two up from the very last, program 9997? Until you do that you are just using the VQC not the probing. When you select the correct program you will get 4 choices: Spindle Probe 1-9 Spindle Probe 10-18 Tool Setting Calibrate Probe. What you would be looking for would be in one of the first two groups. paptep 06-20-2007, 02:10 PM O.K. I tried edit/prg conv 3 times then F2 with the same results as before. It brought up the srceen for g73,g81, etc. no reference to probe cycles or anything else. I don't see anything called VQCPSV1.8 anywhere on the control panel, in the manual, or on any edit screens. I am begining to think something is missing in the machines software. Phil HaasTech83 06-20-2007, 06:36 PM Ok, If you unlocked your 9xxx files and you don;t see the 9997 or 9996? Then you don;t have the probing program. paptep 06-20-2007, 07:10 PM I have unlocked the 9xxxx files and I do have the 9997 and all the other 9xxxx files ,but I don't know how to use them to make the probe do it's thing? Phil P.S. I could edit them if I knew what I was doing. paptep 06-20-2007, 07:53 PM I do have all the 9xxxx files, just don't know how to use them. I could edit them but I don't want to mess them up . I'm thinkin I should be able to use some G code to access them or some kind of template. HaasTech83 06-21-2007, 06:08 PM When you push edit, Prog Convers 3X. You get the VQC Templates, Correct? When that comes up. You say that you push F2. You get the list of programs and when you scroll down to the bottom of that list you don't have the VQCPS program 9997 or 9996? If you dont then i dont know what else to say. They should come up if you know that you have them in memory. Please take your time and make sure you've done all the steps, its almost like your stopping when you get to the VQC screen and you should push F2. I'm not trying to talk down to you but i don't understand why you wouldn't be able to find the correct program in VQC if you know that it has been loaded into your machine. It's hard to help when im not there, hopefully i don't make you angry just trying to help. paptep 06-21-2007, 07:51 PM When you push edit, Prog Convers 3X. You get the VQC Templates, Correct? I hit edit prgm/conv 3 times, I get the VQC screen with several templates that ask for user input to create programs such as thread milling, x milling, y milling, square milling, etc . I have been very careful to do these few simple steps correctly without finding any reference to probe use. there are two blank highlited spaces at the bottom of the screen. I not mad at all, I appreciate any help I can get, however I am frustrated for not being able to find a way to make the probe work. Thanx Phil Cory 06-21-2007, 09:18 PM It's just as you say. This is the critical step. going to the VQC only gets you to whatever the default programs are that come up. To get to the probing cycles, you must hit F2 and then scroll down and select them. paptep 06-22-2007, 04:05 AM Yep, I hit F2 and I have nothing more than before hitting F2. Just a blinking cursor at the bottom left of screen. Believe me, I've gone through this process several times and there is nothing there. wscsr 07-31-2007, 10:40 AM After pressing F2 you have to select program O09996. Also check if macro option is enabled on your controller. If yes then you may have to re transfer the program from software floppy given to you or it can be downloaded from the HAAS site. |
