SmokinErb 06-14-2007, 09:39 AM I was wondering the same thing. Any info would be helpful Switcher 06-14-2007, 11:47 AM You might be able to use a router for mig welding, If the mig gun was mounted vertical (nozzle down). The problem would be that welding robots (the robots I've ran) are 5/6-axis bots. A router is prob. only 3-axis. The reason the mig bots have so many axis is to control things like undercut etc... I'm not saying that it can't be done, with a router, it might work for lots of simple repetive welds? . dan_the_welder 06-18-2007, 02:12 PM Hi, The main issue as I see it is that for anything other than a linear weld I.E. in a totally straight line it's not going to work. I do lots of manual welding and you have to constantly change the torch angle, especially on curves. If you want to build a 5 axis head to hold your torch then you got it made. Otherwise you could manually set your torch angle and weld straight lines. Dan |
