Is it possible to import a drawing file into a template?

I've made a drawing of a part. I don't want to send it to the customer without the title block.

I know, I should have started with the template to begin with. You know the old adage "Hind sight is 20/20".

There are two methods :-


1) Use SELECT / COPY / PASTE between two .dra files.

2) Use Symbol method i.e.


Collect Drawing Area as Symbol, this will be saved as a
separate Symbol File.

Recall Drawing and load Symbol.

Mr. Clark, please explain this in greater detail.

'Copy' is greyed out and is not available. Paste works, but I haven't copied anything yet.

I've tried lots of combinations of 'Symboll. Nothing has worked so far.

The help file is almost useless. It tells what something is, but not how to use it.

To make matters worse, the program crashed three times while trying to make this simple change.

You have to select your drawing first and then copy will light up. You can do this by using "Select All" under the "Edit" menu. Then choose copy and then go to the template with the title block you want to use and select "Paste" under the "Edit" menu. You will then be able to place the drawing where ever you want on the screen with in the title block. I hope this helps.

I had a similar problem ages ago- select everything and make it into a block. - Copy the block or save the block (sorry cant remember which). Open up your template. Paste or Insert the block you made- select it and explode it.
