We have recently bought Utas ( Osai A-B 8600 Control )cnc Milling Machine with an OSAI – Allen Bradley 8600 control system. This unit when purchased by us was not working
We are kindly request help in guiding us to sort out the below mentioned problem.( We change the battery cause the one we get it in the control was totaly Empty)

When the machine is powered on the following messages are shown on the screen:

SERIES 8600 ver 3.0
DISC????
BUBBLE????
CMOS????
EPROM????

***INIT ABORTED***
I think we have to enter the Machine Parameters?
As we don’t have the maintenance manual for this Mc – could you kindly assist us as to what “inputs” have to be entered for the details mentioned above? Where in your view might the problem be ?
Are there any 8600 manuals ( service – troubleshooting – maintenance – programming ) - available –
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated & helpful.

Hi,

If you didn't solve the problem yet:

it looks like your system files are lost. First of all you have to check the batteries on the cards of the controller, and change them if necessary.

then you have to reload all data. The system files you can find on the floppy disk that was supplied with the machine. You will also need a cable for transfer.

Error 141 seems to be THE POS record is missing (syntax or format error)
for error 6 Unauthorized operator name (an error in a characterization file)

My4 error?!?!

Probably you should reload the all parameters

If you didn't solve the error display problem: check if you still have the correct fcrsys file. In this file, section *7, all the 5 types of errors are assign to a specific error message file. (films1 to edperr, films2 to edpmsg, etc...)

You'll need a back up of the characterization files (AXCFIL, EDPERR, EDPMSG, FCRSYS,....ETC), a cable and a transfer program. But I'm wondering what's that srtring My4 error = 14,0,21 . Can you please give more details about this error? When the error appear on the monitor and the exact error message.

Looks like you've lost all the data from the PLC. Usually it happens when the voltage of the batteries is low. First you have to check them and if necessary to replace the batteries, and than all to reload the files I mentioned before.

For reloading the parameters there's a procedure in OSAI manuals, I don't remember exactly in which one. Send me a PM if you need more details.

How can enter the program of the machine, to review the program and see what can be wrong. If it is possible that file is needed to verify, it is possible to see the program only through the operator's screen or via a laptop.

the battery voltage is correct 4 (v) that other causes may have to review.

If your problem is that the 8600 board display only ??? is that lost parameter for working

you first inizialize memory, after chek pres P0 in control panel, then when appear job you must write
INI,MP0,/MP0
INI,MP1,/MP1

now if you type
DIR/MP0 or DIR/MP1
you can see the free block

then you need to load or insert with editor 2 important file
first is FCRSYS and the FILCAR.

you can create it typing

EDI,FCRSYS/MP0

and

EDI,FILCAR/MP0

but you must write the parameter of your machine

I have it mounted on a galaxy
the FCRSYS is similar in same machine but the FILCAR depending from hardware.
