Guys,
My Centurion 6 mill still has the floppy drive and RS232 port. Is it possible to run programs through the RS232 port directly from a PC (notebook)?

I spoke with a Milltronics rep. about the upgraded hardware and software. I'd really like USB and PCMCIA. He wasn't able to tell me much about it. I don't really understand what the improvement is. I got the "newer version, more reliable" story.

I want to use my recently purchased Cad/Cam software and don't know how to connect the two.

Thanks in advance!

You need to put an Ethernet card in it. Check out the old posts in this forum for more information. Many people have done it.

I have my CAM PC post to my dedicated NC directory. Then I just use my mill to access and run the g-code file directly from the network hard drive. Very easy and fast. A 1 MB g-code file will load in a few seconds.

Cheers

You do NOT need an ethernet card to transfer files via RS232.

The RS232 port will work just fine but it is slow. If you need to transfer large files it will frustrate you.

Thanks guys!

I'll start pricing the Ethernet card.
