Which is the better machine for garage/hobby use? The Tree 330 appears to be a much more rigid machine with 40 taper tooling, etc.

I have the Hurco KM1 now, but if the Tree is a lot better, I would consider selling it and picking up the Tree.

The owner of the Tree states that it has .002" backlash in the X axis and .001" in the Y axis ballscrews.

The only concern I have with the Tree is parts cost, availability and support. There are a couple sources of very good parts and support info for Hurco machines.

Thanks,
Michael

I have run a tree Journeyman 330 and it is an awesome mill. Holds 0.001" overall no problem if you need it to. Never get that on a CNC bridgeport. It was converted to a Fanuc 18i control, so that helps too. Tree is no longer in business so parts are really drying up.

The conversational is the best out there, that I have used. I have ran a Tree and a Hurco. Given the choice Hurco with out a question. Oh I sell a manual for the Hurco also.
