View Full Version : Simple Machine 3D Drawings vacpress 03-30-2004, 09:51 PM Heres some stuff I was working on a while back vacpress 03-30-2004, 09:53 PM Made of: 1inx1inx.125 aluminum frame 18 Stainless steel 1in rod from old dot matrix printers with brass bearings 1/2-10 ACME leadscrew NEMA34 Steppers .25&.5 Acrylic Parts "Storefront Window Extrusion" Etc. vacpress 03-30-2004, 10:02 PM ONE LAST IAMGE: teilhardo 03-31-2004, 03:22 AM Have you made this yet? I have been looking for size 34 steppers forever! They are pretty rare and therfore pretty expensive on ebay. Do you know of any good sources Vac? Thanks, Tei vacpress 03-31-2004, 03:38 AM http://www.torontosurplus.com/redirect.php?middleframe=http://www.torontosurplus.com/ind/ind45.htm there are $35 NEMA34 steppers here. apparently 300oz/in. best value ive seen. need geckos tho. or some powerfull unipolar driver.. i may use these for a 3x3x1' gantry router i am trying to amass parts for. arvidb 03-31-2004, 07:13 AM I like it! Arvid moose 03-31-2004, 01:31 PM What CAD package are you using to model this with? vacpress 03-31-2004, 06:06 PM solidworks 03. teilhardo 03-31-2004, 06:10 PM Thats a great deal! I'll have to get some vacpress 03-31-2004, 06:11 PM heres a smilar machine, designed for Foam Cutting - picture a hot wire drawn between the two upright axis... jdebuck 03-31-2004, 06:23 PM Originally posted by teilhardo Have you made this yet? Are these the ones you are referring too? Japan Servo KP86SM2-002 Stepping Motor 2.35 VDC, 1.8 Degrees/Step or these? Superior Electric Slo-Syn M062-FD09 Stepping Motor vacpress 03-31-2004, 06:58 PM the japan servo motors. i have no firsthand experience with them - i did start a thread about them long in the past. i have tried to call that place once and i dont remember what happened.. busy signal or something. no answer, cant remember.. if someone orders some, please tell us how it went. ask if they have other steppers laying around! vacpress 03-31-2004, 07:01 PM the thing about these steppers is the idea that 35$ + gecko 114 +shipping is probably like 160-170/axis. for roughlythe same price, i can get those clifton servos, encoders, and geckos! SO its a tossup still... if i use my currently planned rack and pinion design, I think steppers may be better, as they will need lower rpm to drive the gantry at 200 or so IPM. anyone know about using friction belts to drive a pinion on a rack with a servo? is the holding torque good enough? when milling there seems to be a fair amount of time any given axis sits holding. this is roughly the design i am attempting to build. im using NSK\THK Rails, rack and pinion gearing, so hopefully it will have a less bulky gantry.. i dunno. im trying to keep the cost around 2k. heres a link to the developer of this machine. they make neat stuff. http://www.cyber-nc.com/4axis.htm |
