Aussi Group for IA (Shop) teachers 80 members and growing
http://groups.msn.com/IndustrialArtsTeachers/

The archives of the Engineering Studies Network are in the group's files section and contain heaps of good information for teachers.

This is a teacher specific group but does not exclude others with an interest in kid's education.

Many of the members are promoting CNC in schools and any input would be welcome

Industrial art, that sounds cool.
I have already been asked by a teacher to help them set up a cnc router at their school. I guess after I get some more experience I will be able to help him.
You mention about any input, well I guess reading through this forum will give you a great perspective on the world on CNC and how it has become more affordable to individuals and schools.

Oh, and welcome to our little Aussie corner of turf.

Thanks Ynneb,

There's a guy in WA, Geoff Edwards, who makes a great CNC machining centre. www.appliedresolution.com.au

Geoff's machine is on most State's Education Contracts. He has done some great work with schools in SA and now WA.

Unfortunately in NSW the constraints on school budgets are supported by curriculum which "must be implemented with existing machinery" Many of us would like to be teaching CNC but can't access machines.

Big business has noticed this deficiency, and there are cases where corporate sponsorship will be able to provide the physical resources necessary to give future employees the basics.
