It's easiest to use a solid state relay. You only have to wire it directly to your paralell port!!

I have two of them on my setup, 1 for the router, the other for the dust collection system.

Hope this help,

Ok, on a solid state relay you have 4 tabs, 1-2 are for switching the live (black) from your router, the tab3-4 are to control the relay from 3-32v.(*Note solid-state relays are polarised, you have tab 3 (+) and tab 4 (-) ).

You wire the gnd from your parallel port to the tab 4 (-) and the signal wire to the tab 3 (+).I'm using pin 16 to control my router depending of your software setup.

I'f you have another question, let me know.

Thanks,

Alex

I just got my solid state relay today, I have not hooked it up yet though.
The solid state relay can be turned on or off by the voltage provided by your parallel port. Some boards like the xylotex have a separate plug that just connects directly to the parallel port. When your toolpath software is configured correctly, it can send a signal through the parallel port and into your relay, turning it on or off. You hook the other side up to your spindle and away you go.

I use the Mitsubishi SF16DAZ-H1-4, but you can also use the Crydom D1210.

I prefer the Mitsubishi, smaller and a 16A capacity.

You can find it for free in old ...i don't know the english word but in french is a "photocopieur".

Here the picture of both.
