View Full Version : HF X3 Mill - 20% Coupon?
samim 03-25-2007, 08:17 PM I want purchase the X3 Mill, but it is only available through online store. It it not available at my local HF.
Recently I received a 15% coupon in the flyer but it says it is only for local store.
Does HF ever sent out coupons for online store?
How often do they have the 20% coupons?
Thanks

First things first the x3 was on b/o through them as of about a week ago, second if you wait for a awhile, around every 3 months everything goes on sale, they seem to make a round robin with there sales. I have never seen an internet only coupon, there used to be mail order ones but I have not gotten there catalog in years for mailorder for some reason.

Deviant 03-26-2007, 02:08 PM I get their email and postal special/sales.
They have been really stingy with their 20% coupons as of late.
Just an fyi.
in2steam 03-26-2007, 03:43 PM You know that might because I have a local now and they send me those, but the funny thing is there specials never match, but the local will match the online prices.

WRMorrison 03-26-2007, 06:28 PM Here's a 15% coupon for 'ya that's good for a little while...but it does mention that it's for retail stores only.
Resize it to 3.5"x2.75" and print it out.

samim 03-26-2007, 08:03 PM in2steam,
When you say "x3 was on b/o through them as of about a week ago". What do you mean? What is b/o?
Thanks.
pntbllrsprky 03-26-2007, 08:12 PM b/o is back order
in2steam 03-26-2007, 11:14 PM I chatted online about a month ago with their(HF's) CSRs on march 3 they only had a couple left at that time, and they were encouraging me to order right then. I was not going to because they were not the best deal, and at regular price they are not grizzly is. I have been in posts here directly stating they were on backorder with no release date. That only means they don't know when they are coming, it seems to take around 3-4 months to get shipments in from china at this point. I am waiting for a super x3 from grizzly, they recieved some early in the month, but apparently not enough as I order mine later. Grizzly did have the regular X3 as of then, if I don't hear anything by the end of this week I am ordering the x3 and canceling the super.

I think we covered this in the first post, the retail coupon is of no use?

samim 03-29-2007, 04:58 PM Since HF coupons are no good for online orders, I will be buying the Grizzley X3. The HF is $1000 & with $50 for shipping it is $1050. The Grizzley is $950 with $93 it is $1043. For the same price, I am going to buy the better looking green Grizzley then the red HF. I have read that Grizzley has a better quality then HF even though they are made in same factory.
acondit 03-31-2007, 09:55 PM I have a Grizzly mill G1007 and a Grizzly lathe G4000 (9x19), I also have a Harbor Freight mini-mill and a Harbor Freight lathe 33274 (12x36). The Grizzly lathe comparable to my HF12x36 has better designed handles on the crossfeed and the compound, but would have cost me more than $400 dollars more. HF's mill (sort of) comparable to my G1007 had a much smaller table. My G4000 came with more accessories at the time I bought it than the HF 9x20 (I know I went to the HF store and had them open a crate for me so that I could see what it came with). However, my G4000 did not come with the riser blocks for the lathe that are standard with the HF 9x20, so it is more difficult to use the gear change. My HF mini-mill has the R8 spindle whereas the Grizzly mini-mill has an MT3 spindle.
My conclusion is that in some cases the Grizzly machine has better specifications, construction or accessories than the comparable Harbor Freight machine, but not always. You will generally pay more for the Grizzly (especially if you have to have it shipped to you). It is often necessary to evaluate the particular machine and your particular needs. I have nothing but praise for Grizzly's customer service, however, I have never had to use HF's customer service (go figure).

Smitty911 04-09-2007, 03:38 PM Thanks for the coupon, I found one in stock about 50 miles away and just picked it up.
Now I can quit obsessing over which one and start obsessing over how to CNC it.
Saved $72.00
Thanks

Kalvin 10-25-2008, 08:19 PM Do you gents in the US still see the coupons issued for the Harbour Freight stores?
thanks, Kalvin
dielectric 10-27-2008, 08:23 AM I haven't seen a "generic" coupon in a while. I'm on the email list, and get the paper mailings, and all of the coupons in the last quarter or so have been for little stuff, not really for larger machines. Certainly no general 15% off coupons like they used to have.
I've read in a few places that due to economic factors, raw materials costs, etc, that we shouldn't expect many smoking hot deals from retail for a while. However, I've noticed a few more deals coming up from various local shops going out of business. Good time to be a vulture, I think.

I call it bottom feeding. If I am interested but don't really need it no, I keep my Eyes opn for the real good prices. Any one can walk in and pay full price.
Mike.
They have just opened 2 harbour freight stores within driving distance and a third is only 40 min away.
No good coupons lately.
Kalvin 10-27-2008, 08:10 PM Thank you for the updates on the coupons.
Grizzly X3 - 950.00 makes for a good savings over the Harbour Freight X3 at 1199.00.

dwessels 10-28-2008, 01:55 PM I got my X3 from HF for 20% off without a coupon.
The X3 was a special order, and when I went to order it, I spoke to the store manager. I told him that I had a 20% off coupon in the past (was expired) and left it at home. He gave me 20% off anyways so that I didn't have to wait for a new coupont to show up.
