That is sooooo ludicrous. I was fifteen years and three months old when I started my apprenticeship as a Machinist. So I would have needed to wait for 2-1/2 years before going to a show like Westec?
cadcam 03-11-2008, 07:58 AM Now come on,how many start a apprenticeship as a Machinist at 15 ? At least not out here maybe in Canada. But as I stated the schools come thru on Thursday this day is for the schools and the tech schools.

It was in New Zealand over forty years ago. :) I don't think it happens anywhere these days.

Hello Kuno...
clint_so 03-16-2008, 01:44 AM Do they allow the average attendee to bring a hand held video camera into WESTEC?
It would be nice in case there was a need for documenting areas of interest, because not all businesses can send their management to the show.

No, cameras or video recorders are not allowed. With cameras built into cellphones now, it certainly brings up a grey area though.
Arty 3000 03-17-2008, 12:36 PM i will attend the show 3 out of the 4 days. i will be easy to find. i will probally be the only black guy there. :rainfro::wee::banana:
clint_so 03-27-2008, 04:58 PM The company I work for is sending me to westec to look at software, but I have a question regarding what type of information I need to bring to the show.
I registered online and got my "show badge" in the mail, but it tells me to "Please bring this package to "badge holder Pick-Up" located in the south hall lobby, for quick and easy entry"
I checked the website but I can't find what type of information I need to bring with me.
I have to travel a long distance south and don't have much time down there so I need to be as prepared as possible.
Anybody know information or credentials I need to bring with me?
last year I also applied online and they just send me a badge with my name and company and basically that was my pass to get inside there are people at the door making sure you have a badge to get inside I dont know why it is not like your going to steal one of those big a?? machines. if you have a badge allready I dont see why you would have to take that package somewhere else unless it is differnt this year bassically your bage is you ticket to get in. have fun
Arty 3000 03-27-2008, 07:27 PM hello clint so. don't worry about it. just show up. they will have about 20 people just waiting to give you your badge. you are already preregistered? not a problem. they are really organized. have fun. look for me. i will be the only balck guy. :)
clint_so 04-02-2008, 03:54 PM Westec was amazing, I learned a great deal of good information going there.
I love how some of the CAM systems are starting to incorporate feature based machining.
Anyone else see anything that caught their eye?

The 5 axis Fidia mill was pretty awesome.
Same with the Greenleaf cutters demos.
