View Full Version : Great Aussie BBQ at my place
ynneb 03-15-2004, 11:07 PM We are having an Aussie CNC Zone BBQ at my place on April 17th Saturday.
All are welcome even those who are from else where.
Starts at 12pm. Bring the family.
BYO Drinks. Food supplied.
I will need a RSVP on this thread to find out numbers.
This will be a great chance to compare notes and bore our partners with CNC talk.
We have a CNC controlled sausage turner to ensure evenly cooked food. 2000 pulses per sausage rotation.
Hope to hear from you all.
hardmill 03-15-2004, 11:35 PM Sounds good, what freeway do I take from Califonia:p :p
If I ever get to your side of the world i'll take you up
on the bbq.
PEACE:D
Boros 03-16-2004, 04:40 AM Count me in.
How did your drives go?
Thanx
Boros
Urgundiz 03-16-2004, 01:08 PM Thank you for the invitation, but like hardmill I live a bit far away from Australia :D just happens that here in Spain we are *geometrically* in the opposite side of the world so at least you 'know' one that wants to be there but cannot be more far away from you in the whole world..
/U
Urgundiz 03-16-2004, 01:11 PM ahm.. I hope that you and your invitees enjoy your BBQ a lot!
/U
ynneb 03-16-2004, 04:35 PM Hardmill and ugundiz, If you ever get here, I would fire up the barbie just for you guys. That goes for any other visitors to Australia.
Great Boros, make sure you bring the family too.
Splint 03-19-2004, 10:23 PM Hi ynneb,
I'd love to come along to the BBQ, sound like a good opportunity to meet the crew and learn a few things. I'll see if my father wants to come along as well, he knows practically nothing about computers but he's very enthusiastic about machining, he's recently retired and now spends most of his spare time in the garage tinkering with his lathe an mill. I got you message about NMW in Sydney, thanks but I dont expect to be there myself, I've been to the last two shows in Melbourne which were great but I dont feel motivated enough to travel to Sydney for the next show.
Keep in touch

Crash68 03-26-2004, 09:10 PM Hi Ynneb,
My friend and myself are new CNC users with my friend Kent having purchased a Sherline 4 Axis CNC mill some 12 months ago (Kent is an ex Navy fitter and turner). So far we have had little success in getting to many things to happen i.e: Machine goes into rapid traverse and does other crazy things of its own will (is it software or hardware?) We can change software at huge cost but may still be no better off. As such we would love to come to your BBQ and pick some brains and share some of our own knowledge. Coul you put us down for 2 please.
Thanks,
John Grant
ynneb 03-26-2004, 09:59 PM I will email you guys the address and contact number.
Splint 03-27-2004, 12:48 AM Hi Ynebb,

jc56au 04-06-2004, 06:23 AM Ynebb,
A new member would like to come, uncertain about the family (newest edition is 2 weeks)
John Campbell
ynneb 04-07-2004, 01:34 AM That would be great John, we would love you to come.
I must ask admin to put an add in the front page of the forum to advertise this BBQ.
Its not that far off now.
I am looking forward to posting a picture of our gathering in the forum.
hardmill 04-08-2004, 11:13 PM Have you guys tried Skype yet. Its like taking on the phone,
but free. All you need is a microphone and speakers.
Works great, I hear even on dial-up.
www.skype.com
My username is naturally "hardmill"
Perhaps if the time difference is'nt too great, I could actually
attend your BBQ(but not)
PEACE:D
ynneb 04-08-2004, 11:35 PM Hey thats a good idea Hardmill. If I had a fast connection ( I'm on 56k ) , we could have a hook up where anyone could log in and hear and see us, and even contribute in the conversation. I will look at the possibilities, but dont hold your breath.
You'll never know the smell of the freshly BBQed food though. :(
garagefela 04-10-2004, 08:48 AM Hey Benny,
I would be glad to come and take advantage of your hospitality so please book me down for one.
I am working nightshift on Friday night and also Saturday night but I am sure the smell of that BBQ wafting my way will keep my eyes open!!
Regards Michael

LOL no Armadillos here and you don't know what you're missing re: Roo Meat ! :)
It's tasty and very lean (not much fat).
ynneb 04-10-2004, 09:34 PM Depending on its success, It may be a quarterly thing.
I am hoping it will eventually set up a strong local network of CNCers.
No armadillows here, just kangaroo road kill on the menu.
turmite 04-11-2004, 10:42 PM Low fat meat sounds like something I need!:(
ynneb a friend of mind told me that the best road kill is fresh. So he keeps a can of birght yellow paint in his truck. On his way to town he paints all the road kill. On the way back he know what is fresh!:D
You guys and you families have a good time. I really do wish I could be there.
Mike

ynneb 04-14-2004, 08:15 PM Well it was a long time coming, but its a few days before the BBQ
I was wondering if it was possible to bring a salad. No stress if you cant.
Oh, and if you could bring drinks that would be good too.
I will provide the sausages and chops.
Just in case you didnt get my address and phone number could you please email me so I can send it to you privately.
(I had a few midnight prank calls when I posted to phone number in this forum earlier)
See you on Saturday.
EDIT: If you want to bring along photos of your work in progress and any items of interest then that would be great.
Benny: Good luck for today I see Melbourne has done it's usual anti BBQ weather thing :(
After months of perfect hot sunny weekends we get this.
ynneb 04-17-2004, 02:30 AM Well the conversation flowed well.
The food was eaten.
We had a great time comparing machines, ideas, methods and software.
If you want to match the online names of every one here, to the faces, you'll have to come next time.
Thanks every one for your participation. :)
ynneb 04-17-2004, 02:34 AM Six CNC nerds
Ferenczyg 04-17-2004, 04:39 AM The time zones always surprise me.. here in Spain is Saturday 17 in the morning, just now we will light the fire and smell the ember.. and you already have eaten the food :D
