I have a bridgeport mill and I am running virtual gibbs I have got over 40 posts and none of them seem to be able to output the correct g code for my machine to cut a simple profile. I get negative cutter comp alarms and wierd shapes cut that are wrong. Any suggestions on how to sort out a good post would be appreciated.

Are any of those posts correct for your machine? What about parameter settings at the controller? How about cutter comp settings in Gibbs? If you cannot get the correct Gibbs post then use the Posthaste plug-in. There are Bridgeport templates in the library and are easy to modify.

If you send me a link to your E-mail I will send you a zip file with 1500 post processors for gibbs and then just look on the post list for what you want.

I'd like a copy of the 1500. A couple of my friends have older machines that we have had limited success post processing for without a lot of editing afterward. Thanks!!!

A quick thought for inertialabs. No experience on bridgeport, but I had a similar problem once on a bandit controller. The bandit required 100% absolute, or 100% incremental code. Most controllers use absolute for everything, except I,J,K and R are written incrementally, so the bandit went crazy at every G2 or G3 move. The solution was to tell Gibbs to post in incremental to make it all incremental.
Warning, Gibbs remembers your last request to post in incremental, and this will really screw with the poor guy following you on the next program.
Make sure that after you try this, you end up by posting in absolute one time before closing Gibbs.
(I think there is a way to create a default environment for Gibbs to open up with to avoid this problem, but I've never taken the time to explore it. Maybe someone could help with that.)

Hi intetialabs

You have not said what control you have, with your cutter comp you have to do a line move first before cutter comp will work

I would try & do a program without cutter comp turned on to get what code you need for your control to get it going, than add the cutter comp Etc after you have a post that is working for you

Gibbs support will help you with this as well

Hello Mactec

Thanks for the reply, but I sold that mill over a year ago and bought a Haas VF3 SS.

Sweet machine
