I Just recently grabbed a HF X2, all was going well (or as well as could be expected anyway) when i found that my R8 collets don't fit:confused:
I can get them in with some serious persuasion, but the spindle is definitely to small.

I recently have seen these problems popping up with the X3, but have yet to hear of anything about it on the X2, do they use the same spindles?

I've heard about the r8 pin being too large on some of the Sieg machines. THis used to be teh case with the X3 I know. Could this be your problem?

Yeah, sounds like a pin problem.... minilathe.com shows one way to fix this.

Yes, it was the pin. I had measured the R8 chuck that came with the mill, and it was a bit small at .940, while the collets were the normal .945 so assumed it was the spindle.
A quick spin of the dremel took care of it with no problem. Thanks for the replies guys, i was just about to take a brake cylinder hone to it, I would have been very unhappy.
