My manual tool change button on the spindle cover doesn't work and I was wondering if any body has had this problem. This is an older Interact 412 with a Hiedenhien 151AP controller. It is ran full time off the RS232 to a slave computer.

I've had this machine for a couple of years and the odd thing of it is, is that it worked when I test ran it at the machinery dealer. It hasn't worked since I sat it down.
I've often wondered if I bumped something.

If you start talking relays and such, I'll have to get my electrical guru over here to check them out. I am basically wondering if there is a quick 'check this' limit switch or something. I've had the cover off and there aren't any broken wires that I can see.

I get around this quite well really because I have a short program in my controller, for each tool number, that I wrote to call up any tool I want. Sometimes I need to call up,say, tool 5 to be able to pull tool 4 out of the carousel if I want to change holders. Other than that I normally just load cutters at the spindle.

This has been a good machine so I can't complain to much but ocasionally it would be nice if this worked.

Thanks in advance!

Try a quill up such as a M25. This makes the spindle safe. Now try the tool release button. Could be a defective switch, broken wire, etc.

Thinking along those lines, I could probably upload a short block with an M25 into my controller. That would be about the same as my individual tool call up blocks.

Thanks for the input.
