I have the Hitachi model M12VC 2.25 HP router on my JGRO table with just a 100 oz-in stepper moving it up and down. It's been working fabulously for over a year now. A lot of other CNC table builders here on 'The Zone' are also using the same Hitachi M12VC for their cutting. I also own a variable speed Dremel Tool, a variable speed RotoZIP, and a B&D single speed router. I'll take the variable speed Hitachi M12VC over them all for my CNC router table. Just my 2 cents and a few pictures to boot... biotech1 02-11-2007, 10:32 PM Thanks HayTay i been followings post from you was wondering do you have specs for the holder you made for the hitachi router i got all my pieces cut tonight and layed out tommorrow i will start drilling my holes and tapping them i've been studying this design for almost a month now so i'm takingt the plunge my only concern is the bearings got some from work for free but don't know if they will cause a probleme or not 6001-C3 P.S if you dont mind could you post mor pics of your JGRO... HayTay 02-12-2007, 12:28 AM Thanks HayTay i been followings post from you was wondering do you have specs for the holder you made for the hitachi router i got all my pieces cut tonight and layed out tommorrow i will start drilling my holes and tapping them i've been studying this design for almost a month now so i'm takingt the plunge biotech1, Give me some time to dig around in my computers to locate the modified drawing for my JGRO/Hitachi M12VC router holder/mounting bracket. I know they're in there somewhere, I just have to remember which CAD/Drawing program they were done in. One tip on the tapping. I couldn't wait to get started drilling and tapping the holes when I built my JGRO table, so I went to the local ACE Hardware Store and bought the drill and tap sets that they carried. There are different types of taps and the ones I bought were the 'plug tap' variety. Plug taps typically have anywhere from 2 to 4 flutes (see attached pictures). While the plug taps worked, they seemed to cut, destroy, rip out, or damage as many threads as they created. The moral of the tap story is to wait and get 'roll taps' or 'thread forming taps' and appropriately sized drill bits. Roll taps don't have any flutes (and corresponding sharp cutting edges) and work by compressing and forming the material into usable threads. Additional tapping info is actually in post #3 of my JGRO BLOG (see link below). P.S if you dont mind could you post mor pics of your JGRO... Shamefully, I have neglected my JGRO build log (http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17124) for over a year. No one seemed overly interested in the BLOG and noboby seemed to be building from JGRO's plans. With all of the renewed interest, and a bunch of CNCZone members actually building JGRO tables, I'll have to breathe new life into the thread. Updates to my thread will be made shortly... |
