Does anyone know of any reasonable plating shops, I live in the pacific NW and I am trying to get some parts plated in brass. To date the best qote i have is for $150/pair. I would like to do a small production run and of it to work i would need to get it down to about $20/pair. Don't know what stresses and use your part has, but have you considered doing it in 6063 and gold anodizing? I gather it is an appearance thing.:)

Yea, get em anodized. That's what aluminum is good for.

What is that thing anyway? Combination brass knuckle/plumbing fixture?

If you take a few down to the local anodizer, they will sometimes do small batches for a cash deal by slipping your parts in with someone elses. This deal works well if you don't need certs and are not under a deadline.

How big are they? Does it have to be brass plate? Plating on aluminum is not easy and is prone to peel off. Colored anodizing is easier although it does not have the same look. Are the pins also aluminum or are they inserted after the fact? Depending on how many parts you have I could possibly refer you to an anodizer in B.C. that will do small runs possibly within your price limit.

It is a passenger foot peg for a motorcycle, the pins are stainless and yes they are pressed in after the fact. Anyway I would just like to have a real brass plating but, i guess i have to do something else instead. Thanks for the feedback.

I suggest definitely go for anodizing; brass plating is not likely to be durable enough, I have had parts nickle plated and the plating is actually slightly porous so it can get attacked under severe conditions.
