We had a minor crasch yesterday(Knocked off 2 soft jaws), after re-aligning the Headstock and the turret , we got a new value for the centre tool holders, original it were X0.000 now we got X2.377 mm..Is it possible that the servo didnt stop immeditly as the safety clutch got activated and thats the reason of the new offset value?

At home position the machine coordinate are X422,000 can I change this parameter so I get the x -offset value I want and then change the parameters for the presetter to get the right offset when messuring the other tools ??

It sounds to me that it is still not in line, but 2.377mm hell i have had lathes alot further off, do you have a Q setter?

I have the q setter. And the angle/rotation of turret are in line, and if the turret wasnt in center of the rotation point, it would be different values on different toolposts. Right?

yes but it may not be a significate amount just re touch the other tools on my puma 200 it was off about 2.9mm i had it allined and now its only off .35mm but is still off its hard to get them perfect my brand new one can read anywhere from 0 to .4mm, and why i was asking about the Q is use it to set your drill that will tell you how far off the machin is in relation to the setter wich i assume is right within .05mm to .1mm

what was the problem

I dont really know, I used a indikator in the chuck ligned upp the trurret and holders, just like the first time and this time it just were back to normal. Mabe there were a tool geometry activaded the first time( and I missed that). I cant really think of anything else. The rotation alignement were still OK I just had to change the x offset value.

well if it was me i would put a drill in or something that is good and true sticking out 4 to 6 inches and indicate it see if your off

the turret are aligned after the key grooves. it is off in the z direction in about 0.005mm on a distance of about 100mm.. for more accure machining I ve got tool holders that are adjustable so the center can be set even if the turret should be a little bit off.

Did you do a grid shift?

Grid shift? What s that ?

A grid shift is parameter 1850, i believe. From what i understand is the grid the machine runs on so to speak. How you do it is simple. You indicated your turret in, then indicate your drill holder to -0- in -x-. With the pocket called up in a g54 or cooresponding work coordinate, you see the absolute value, whatever that value is off from -x0.0- you convert to metric, devide it in half, and add or subtract it from the value in your grid shift. After you shutdown your machine and reboot the control you recall the same tool up and reindicate the pocket to see if you get -x0.0- in your absolute dim. It is relatively simple but sounds really confusing, If you have any questions you can email me at m_amachine@hotmail.com
