I'm thinking of tinkering with a simple version of a spark tester to identify the common steel alloys.
It would use a small high voltage transformer to spark the metal and a diffraction grating / UV detector to look at the returned spark spectrum.
A smal micro could store and compare the results.
Comments welcome and encouraged.
I'd love to hear from someone that's used a big lab grade tester.....
