hi guys

Have been running just fine, got my orient spindle problem under control and now I seem to be experiencing a problem witht the machine running away!!

I was running and then all of a sudden it cut's round arc while doing a pocketing
feature.. I cold start and pick up and keep cutting and the machine seems to be fine.. But then it comes back again.. I do have my RS 232 plugged in .. Is this really a problem???

Our two Fadals have been connected to RS232 since the day they arrived. One since 1990 and the other since '97. We have never seen anything like that. I have a hard time believing that simply having RS232 plugged in could cause any of the problems that are being linked to it in some of these threads.

I have no experience with fadal but it sounds like an encoder problem, check your connections on your encoders. The rs232 would not cause this on any machine.

I have had this problem before. It was on a 104D and had to do with cutter comp issues that FADAL had. You might check.

It could also be the encoder on the motor is toast or the coupler for the motor to the ball screw is loose or broken.
