Hi everyone,,
Ive been lurking around for some time now reading just about every post on this forum. I'm not even up and running yet and I'm already addicted.
I'm gonna jump in and get my first build underway soon and my plan and goal is as follows.
Ultimately I need a good degree of accuracy and think that Joes 2006 will give me exactly what I want. Problem being that I dont yet have a machine to cut the parts and the cost of shipping a kit here (I'm in South Africa) from USA will just cost too much. So my plan is to build the JGRO and then use that to build the second one. Seems there are quite a few people who have done that. I've ordered 269oz steppers and a Gecko controller (Only heard good things about it). I already have a 45 volt 10Amp supply. I will be using the second build to cut mainly fibreglass and carbon fibre sheeting up to approx 6mm thick and occasionally 3/4 MDF.I hope my choice of steppers and controller is a good one.
Could someone recommend a router. Got a huge Metabo at the moment but I would need a 4 Stroke engine on the Z axis to raise and lower this brute. Havent had much luck searching for routers to use on the Joes 2006.
Any comments and advise would be greatly appreciated.
When the build does commence I will be sure to post a build log and lots of pictures. Really looking forward to it. By the way is there anyone else in SA who has built either of these machines?
Thanks in advance
