I am interested in implementing and Automatic tool changer. Looking for some ideas, do you have any?

One that drew my attention when I first signed up to the this web site I remember seeing someone who had implemented one with Joe's design. It was based on a router with a quick disconnect and the quick changer was at one end and the quick disconnect slide into a stone like material (might have been painted). If someone recalls or knows of this setup can you please point me in the right direction.

Buzz,

Can you tell me more about your tool holder seen on your router page? It looks like it sticks out a bit far from the router. 1) Where'd you get it? 2) Do you get flex from this? Thanks.

I got the idea from JLT and Joe. They both seem happy with it and the router I got... So I bought both (my router was 25 years old and almost dead).

As I only got it installed last night and completed around 10:30 I only got to play with it for about 5 minutes before I hit my machining curfew (tool loud upstairs for sleepers)... that may change with how quite the new router is. My findings in about 5 minutes of machining.

I was flexed a little when I cut a 5/8 wide grove .25" deep into a 2*4" at F5. I then when F15 at .125 (work my way up to this feed rate) and it just purred. As I increased the feed rates the flexing (chattering) went away. At this point I believe I was moving to slow, but more tests this weekend will confirm this.

As JLT and Joe have been using this adaptor more I would ask them.

Here are some links that I have kept for my tool change

Can anyone tell me where I can down load these videos so I can put them on a CD and show to a friend of mine who does not have or feel the need to have the internet? The ones on Google are great. Are there any others as well?

Thanks,
Greg
