Hi Guys,

I bought a torchmate 1 kit which I'm very pleased with.

To save some cash I opted not to get the plasma interface (I've programmed many PLCs and built lots of machines so I thought his would be easy)....the need for a relay contact to replicate the trigger is easy and obvious but how to use the signal generator output to swich a relay is not, even though the directions seem quite thorough. It talks about optically isolated TTL with low 0v and high 5v...not really sure what all that means in practice.

Any ideas in simple terms?

Thanks,

Alan

Hello,

When I put my torchmate together I used 2 relays to turn on the plasma cutter.

I sourced out a small solid state relay that was sensitive enough to use the low amp signal from the signal generator. It would then activate a larger electro- mechanical relay to fire the torch. I think Torchmate wanted a few hundred bucks at the time, saved lots of $ by making one.

I can post the relay specs if anyones interested.

Thanks, good info.....yes, relay specs would be nice.
