Here's my new router. Not quite finished( Need to make router mounts). I used 8020 where I could and bought linear rails on E-bay. The steppers and drivers are Xylotec. I'm using Mach 2 to run it. Anyway here's a couple of pics

That is a very impressive machine. Keep us up to date and a video when you start to cut.

Looks really classy with the counterbored cap screws and the cutouts in the gantry sides. Nice job

I just finished z maount plate and router mounts. I'm using a cheap generic trim router I found on ebay. It should do the job. If not I can always upgrade.
I'm going to pick up a piece of MDF tonight, get it mounted and start progaming.

The exiteing stage  When it all comes together.

How do you plan to support your MDF?

I got my MDF board today from Home Depot. I'm using a 3/4" piece. Drilled and cb'ed then mounted using 1/4-20 cap screws and connectors from 8020.Board feels pretty stiff so i'm not using any supports for now. If it becomes an issue i'll put some cleats underneath it. As for now i'm going to run a couple of programs and see what i get. i'm also going to try and get a video posted soon, hopefully.

Have you got room above the X axis screw to put a few stiffening ribs accross under the MDF?

Otherwise I guess you could put two length wise either side of the screw.

All up I reckon you've done a first class job.

thanks for the compliments guys. I've got it up and running, but i'm not happy with lead screws. I bought cheap ones on mcmaster carr and i'm getting a thumping sound. i'm ordering new screws today. i'll let you know how they work out.

How did the new screws go?

I'm still in the design stages at present and the 8020 idea has struck and yours looks good :)

Nice design. I am new to CNC and have searched for many different plans to build. I like your design and was wondering if you are offering any plans?
