I purchased my first Puma 6-S in 1994, I think they started making them in 1993 with the Blue and White paint job. The last year was 1998 I think, then they started calling them Puma 200's. I purchased a Daewoo Lynx in 1999 it replaced the 6-S and the 8-S machine, I think that is pretty close on the dates. 1998 would've been the last year for the Puma 8 machines. The Puma 8-S is a really good machine, I ran over 4.5 million parts on a 6-S machine, basically the same machine with smaller turret holes for boring bar (1.250" ID) The 8 has 1.500" diam boring bar blocks, and a bigger spindle bore size, but the frame of the machine and the sheet metal guarding is the same size on both machines. The machines sold for $75,000.00 USD new in 1994/1995 but can be purchase over here for only $20,000.00 or so, they will usually run for 10 more years if they are in good shape to when you purchase them. I like Daewoo machines, they are workhorses. I have run them 24 hours a day and 6 days a week, and they perform perfectly. Barney
