So how exactly do these work and hold pieces in place for cnc routing, or are they used for something else?

Thanks. :)

Hey Outside the Box Man! These fasteners are used primarily for hog-out type machining, forgings, castings and the like. You see them alot on horizontal, high-speed machines where parts are nested in a single block of material. They are often used in a grid type pattern so that 1 fixture can eliminate many dedicated fixtures. I'm not sure whether they would benefit in the CNC routing application. The body of the fastener is screwed into a fixture plate or similar and then the inner stud is raised up into the workpiece being machined to hold it with minimal obstruction to machining.
