i'm pretty new to CNCs, i'm actually in the process of building one at this moment and i'd like to know what kinda CNC software i should use? for the most part i'm just looking to be able to cut designs out of a flat surface.

so i'm asking you guys what software you reccomend for someone who's new to all this. i'm really not looking to do anything very complex, just cutting into flat surfaces like i said.

Try Mach3 ( http://www.machsupport.com/ ), you can demo the software (control runs on Windows XP) with up to 1,000 lines of g-code.

hey thanks for the input, also, what do you rate their learning curve? would someone be able to get into one of them for the first time, be able to make something simple and send it to their cnc router? or would there be a long learning period?
