Hello everyone. My mill needs a quill scale. It is a Milltronics Centurion 6 (3 Axis but no quill scale) on a Seiki 4VS.

My question is, who makes a quality quill scale for a reasonable amount of money?

I've seen quill scales advertised for $40 and others for $260. I don't mind paying for quality, but I don't want to pay an excessive amount. These are old technology and should cost $260, IMHO.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, you mean it's got a quill but no calibrated scale? No index dial on the fine feed handle?

The 3rd axis has a servo and a digital readout. The entire head moves up and down for the 3rd axis. The quill is independent of that movement.

By scale I meant glass scale (digital readout).

It has a regular rule type on the quill but I want to read to .001".

Hi, I see you have already noted the quill scales available, and I expect the $40 one is similar to the electronic vernier type, which consists of a scale from 6" long and up to 3 foot lengths, and the tiny read out which can be coupled to a larger readout giving a display of about 5/8" high characters for an extra $87.
By "quality" what do you mean? The ability of these readouts are as good as the electronic verniers, and they are as accurate as you'd want to get.
With this type of readout you will have to "mount" it and that will depend on the type of fixings supplied, and the locality.
The add on larger plug in display can be mounted on the face of your existing digi display box.
I assume that you have an existing digital readout for 3 axis and no room to add on another display line.
Ian.
