Just wanted to start a thread to see if anyone has made thier own christmas ornaments or holiday decorations. If you have, feel free to post pictures of them here, it might inspire me.

My wife suggested that I machine out a star for the top of our tree this year, and possibly some ornaments as well. I'm just surfing to find some different shaped stars and art for this project.

Thanks! I'll try out the angel, it looks great. The "requirements" for the star have changed, she's interested in something more abstract and "art-sy". I'm working on tracing a few pictures I've found online using solidworks, and generating a dxf for import into Mach2 for my mill.

The "requirements" for the star have changed, she's interested in something more abstract and "art-sy".
This a is slightly more "artsy" star I drew.

It is a star within a star.

The slots between the center lines are removed, & the inner star is given a partial turn to create the desired effect.

Cut N Carve this bird.

Adjust interlocking slots on top of body & bottom of tail, to suit the material thickness you use.

What types of material are you milling (or lasering) your ornaments out of:
wood, acrylic? What else?

I found some more.. I used to have a laser engraving business. The images were engraved and cut out of red alder sheet stock.

I'm planning on milling these ornaments out of thin sheet stainless, and perhaps thin wood also. Although for the wood, I need to make a bracket to mount my wood router to the quill of my bridgeport first. The idea first started when my wife asked me to make a star for the top of our tree. Seeing that we are getting a tree this coming weekend, this is moving higher on the project list!
