When I start a new file it always defaults to mm. How can I change that to inches?

Open a new file, start the hypermill interface, before you do anything else click on the setup icon (Looks like a wrench) and set to imperial, on the bottom of that dialog box is an icon of a disk with a blue check box on it (I believe a mouse hover reveals something about 'default' something) click on that icon, save that file.

The same "Save As Default" functionality can be applied to jobs as well. For example: If you wish to have a 3D Profile Machining job always open up to Y-axis direction cutting, just select your desired setting and save as default.
