Just got a used 210 and plugged it in......

Both of my VF3's are prewired for 4th axis use but I have not to this point had one. The RT comes on line and works fine but the "zero" for the A axis leaves the table off .87 deg.

Am I wrong in assuming the plater should have one T slot vertical at zero?
Is there a parameter to adjust position of the A axis at "zero"??

I have several 210 rotary tables and all of them zero at different positions of the T slots. I have not found any parameter to adjust and simply set a zero position on the T slot or whatever fixture I am using and put the value in the Work Coordinate A column.

Related inquiry and not a outright thread hijack: Does anyone have a wirig diagram for the interconnect cable for a DC motored HRT 160 or 210???

I contacted Haas with an RFQ for a pre-wired version of these 4th axis to "plug and play" with my V2XT Bridgeport (BMDC version).

After 3 week wait and 2 f/u calls, I got the following from the local Haas "factory outlet":

"due to the current business climate and their ongoing product development program, Haas has declined to quote a custom made 4th axis".

Don't see how a jumper harness from DC motored existing Haas 47t axis to a V2XT would be THAT custom or special but Haas clearly is NOT interested.

I then asked the neighbor to borrow his wiring diagram for his HRT210 so I could figure out one for myself - he told me that Haas doesn't supply wiring diagrams for their HRT's.

The local "factory agent" is not at all helpful with providing information either - apparently, this is too "dinky" of a sale/request and/or Haas isn't giving out info.

ANY help in adapting a Haas or SOMEBODY'S rotary table to my V2XT would be greatly appreciated!!!!! AAARGH!!!

Haas will not be interested in anything but a haas rotary product paired with a Haas milling product. I have been down this road. Not saying it's good or bad, just my experience.

Try Hardinge, they pride themselves on custom rotary applications and will be happy to help. They also have some of the better rotary products out there and are one of the few that interface directly with Haas.

I've heard diverse reports on Hardinge "support" of Hardinge/Bridgeport product. In some instances, they simply don't have support and simply refer you to EMI.

On a personal, first hand basis, when I called Hardinge for support of my DX32 Extrak, the person I talked to was kind enough to referme to some ex-Bridgeport guys that were scattered out in the hinderland - they were VERY helpful both from a "historical" as well as a technical standpoint.

When I called back for some other support (buy software), they then pointed me towards EMI. So much for "Bridgeport" service. Why would the DX32 fitted V2XT that I have be any different???

I con't consider paying EMI's "support" to be worth the prices that they charge. Support? More like inflated ransome payments.

Geof: I D/L'd the PDF and it is quite informative. They literally give you P/N's for every part in the axis. HOWEVER, no info regarding cable pinouts or axis schematics or any other info I need to interface the axis to my machine is/are provided.

1XTOOLFOOL: I sort of expected that attitude from other comments I'd heard about Haas doing business with Bridgeport before BPT went bust.

IF anybody HAS reverse engineered the cabling of a DC servo motor based HRT160, or has had success in interfacing other HRT's to non-Haas machines, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks for allowing me to interject this post into this apparently related thread.

i recently have had to re-align the fourth axis on my hs-2, the following is the procedure i used, hope it helps

1. Write the value of parameter 224 "rot axis zero ofset" on a piece of paper.

2. Change this value to a zero.

3. Home your fourth axis only.

4. Go to the alarm message display and type in the word "DEBUG" and push the write/enter key.

5. Push handle jog.

6. Push postion display.

7. Push page up tell you see the " pos-raw " screen .

8. Jog your 4th axis to your desired location, use an indicator for precise centering.

9. On the pos-raw screen you will see a column that says comand and another one that says actual, for your 4th axis write both of these on a piece of paper ( because i cannot recall wich one is the exact one to use ) these numbers are encoder counts.

10. On parameter 224 type in the number from the actual column and push write/enter.

11. Home your fourth axis only.

12. Re-indicate your fixture to check that its centered. if it is still a little off, try to do step 10 and 11 again but type the number from the command column into parameter 224 instead.

Perfect...
That was what I was looking for. Now any work offsets etc. are made from a known "0" and don't involve any math... read that less chance of error.

:)
