Hi Everybody,

The forum put a little note for me at the top telling me that since I have no posts that I should introduce myself in the "Introductions" forum. Not finding any section specifically titled introductions, well, I guess the clubhouse will be OK?

I've never had the opportunity to do any cnc work and really know very little about it, but I want to try and build a rig to use none the less.

I am a woodworker by trade and I want to set myself up a little woodworking shop in my back yard and see if I can make a go of it as a business. I'd like to make cnc work a part of that so that it will enable me to offer a variety of interesting products. (Plus I just think it's pretty cool.)

I have a variety of interests, too many actually, like art, ceramics, computers and programming, etc, etc... Mostly I'd like to find a way to put my creative energy to work in satisfying ways that will also afford me the opportunity to make a living without breaking my back anymore than I have from years of construction work. I'm a 46 year old carpenter who has been doing construction from the time I was 16 years old, ouch.

I live in the Northwest Georgia area and currently my wife and I are in the process of remodeling an older house that we are buying. It's our first house and we're very happy to have finally gotten a place we can call our own...but finances are tight, so I intend to build my own rig as opposed to laying out thousands of dollars for one.

Well, that's about all for now. I am greatful to have found this cnc resource online and I hope to make alot of new friends here.

Mark
