This will probably sound like a stupid question.

Do I need to convert my geometry before sending it as an e-mail image?

I've layed out my recording studio on mastercam. It looks great! Will I ever be able to share them.

Help!

Thanks

John

Not exactly sure what you're doing. I take it using the Studio in Mastercam with solids/surfaces to create a grafix image? If so, you'll want to use Save BMP to get it to your hard disk, then mail that. If not, explain a bit more what you're up to and we'll 'hook you up' ! ;)

On an earlier post it was autodesk. I have both versions 8 and 9. The one with which I need is mc8. I guess I could convert them to 9.

How do I do that?

I neglected to convert them in the set up.

I think I'm confused. You said in your first post you wanted to email the geometry converted to an image. If you want to convert the geometry to a different type of geometry, i.e. DXF, DWG, IGES etc, then yes, File/Converters then select the type of file you want, (like DWG for Autocad)

If you want to convert the geometry to an image, then either do a screen capture, or use the Studio, Save BMP option.

If you want to convert 8 to 9, and you have 9.1, you can run the script in the VB folder to batch convert, if you have 9.0 then you'll have to do it manually.. Open the file in version 9 by File/Get. At the bottom of the dialog, where it says Files of Type, select Mastercam Version 8, then save normally as version 9

HTH

If I'm still not giving you what you're looking for, tis because I'm still not quite sure what you want, so try to explain a bit more..

I am trying to convert to a .bmp .gif .dwg file.
How do I post my geometery online?

In 8.1 version.

Saving to version 9 I did that.

Also, I converted to autocad LT 2002.

When I browse attachment file what should I be looking for(files)?
Which ones?

Geometry and grafix are two different beasts. If you want .bmp, .gif etc, those are grafix files. Geometry files are, .dxf, .dwg etc.

To do a grafix file, use Screen/SufraceDisplay/Studio. Set everything up the way you want, then hit Save BMP. This should prompt you for a location/name to save to. This is what and where the email attachment for grafix file will be.

I'm going to take my second semester of advanced programming at Long Beach City College.

I asked my proffesor (teacher) this queston. He didn't even know.

Anyways thanks for the info. I'll give it a try.

That is what is on the screen.

Do I have to machine something in order to render a .bmp file?

All I want is the raw geometry changed to .bmp.

Advanced Mastercam programming, or computer programming? The reason I ask is that most computer programmers, or computer guys in general, don't know much about CAD/CAM programming.

I don't know about the empty buffer error. Sorry. You might try eMastercam.com

Get a screen capture utility, or use the CTRL+PRINTSCRN to copy the window then open MSPAINT.EXE and paste the image. You can then trim, crop, etc to get what you want.

Then I would not go back to the school take some were else.

Bring your file up on the screen to start.

Now using the buttons go to
"main Menu"
"Screen"
"Next Menu"
"To Clipbrd"
Read the prompt at the top of the screen.

Now go open say Windows Paint.
Click on "Edit" then "Past"

You now be able to save this as a BMP

Now go at it.

you're getting that msg because MC's studio portion is meant to display surfaces and solids and not geometry. The "Print Screen button (no ctrl button necessary)/paste into favorite graphics program" is the quickest and easiest way to get what you want.
