View Full Version : First Program - Help Needed
TZ250 10-10-2006, 10:46 AM This is my first program on the Centurion 6. I've never used a Milltronics before.
This is the way the program looks after trying to machine a hex boss.
It has an extra line to the start point. Do I need to raise the Z and go back to the start point, or is there an end of program somewhere in the conversational portion that I missed?
I know nothing about G-Codes.
This is the beginning of a long learning process. :)
This is my current program:
G20 G90
N1 G1 F20 X.2274 Y.625 Z-.4, R.03
N2 G1 F20 X.2274 Y0 Z-.4 R.03
N3 G1 F20 X.1137 Y-.1969 Z-.4 R.03
N4 G1 F20 X-.1137 Y-.1969 Z-.4 R.03
N5 G1 F20 X-.2274 Y0 Z-.4 R.03
N6 G1 F20 X-.1137 Y.1969 Z-.4 R.03
N7 G1 F20 X.1137 Y.1969 Z-.4 R.03
N8 G1 F20 X.2274 Y0 Z-.4 R.03
N9 P261 = P261 + .5 * .5
P262 = P262 + .625
P256 = P256 + P242 - P262
Thanks in advance.
mholden 10-10-2006, 02:52 PM If you are using conv programming. you would need a setup page before the hex. see the attachment. it would be the same with a pologon as a pocket.
donl517 10-25-2006, 06:07 PM Mholden,
Do you have any more of those lessons in .doc format? If so, would you post them?
Thanks In Advance,
Don
mholden 10-26-2006, 08:31 AM Here is what I have
donl517 10-26-2006, 02:28 PM Awesome!
Thanks,
Don
single phase 10-29-2006, 11:33 PM mholden, thank you, those are nice to have.
TZ250 10-30-2006, 01:14 AM Thank You, MHolden.
I'm learning slowly. I can't devote a lot of time to my mill right now. I've been studying the manual. The software is starting to make sense.
wester 11-08-2006, 12:05 PM Thanks MHolden for the lessons they are a tremendous help.
I wish Soren would get back on he was a world of knowledge.
:rainfro:
mholden, thanks
that stuff is gold. I've had to teach myself to use the Cent 5 & 6 controles were I am and these will be exelant exampels for me

THOSE ARE A GREAT HELP

I have found on hexes Coversational Prog. works better for me.
What I did was make a program for a 1 inch hex ( 1 inch across flats) then I added a "scale" then I
put in the correct num to make new hex . If the new hex is 1.5 across flats put in 1.5 if it is 5/8 across flats you would put in 5/8.
Be sure to run the graphics before you run first part. The graphics ,i think is one of the most important things to learn on this machine. It has saved me from many baaad things.
I think "scale" is under the "special" key.
Farmers Machine 02-06-2007, 07:54 PM Call Milltronics and purchase newest version of software for your mill.
Then a polygon ID or OD is very simple without scaling.
program set up.
tool change.
"Mill"
"Frame" for OD
"Pocket" for ID
setup page describes location, depth and how many passes
describe part dimensions
end of program page
cut parts
make $$$$$
PS: What is your location to Minnesota?
I drove 1250 miles to the mill and lathe training class in 2004.I had been programming 7 different controls at ALCOA in G code. the conversational on my RH 30 is so far above and beyond anything you can do with G code that it will make your head spin. It was by far the best learning experience ever and worth 10 times what it cost.
hi Farmer
your right I wasn't sure if cent 6 had that feature.
What is the cost of the up grade?
You are right about Conver. prog. I would rather chew my arm off than use g-code. Who wouldn't want just fill in the blanks!!!!!

Farmers Machine 02-06-2007, 08:51 PM Milltronics phone # 952-442-1401 option 1 for service and they will direct you in proper direction. Have your Machine serial # ready because they keep really good records on their machines and will get you the propper up grade for your model. just like any computer things get better ever year so it would be a good idea to purchase upgrade software every 2 years or so if you are doing job shop work. it will allow your proven equipment to run with the new kid on the block. Dodge dem chips, cuts and burns get tuff on an ol man

Bill Berkley 02-23-2007, 02:34 PM A big thanks mholden for posting the lessons. We just aquired a Milltronics Partner mill at work and I am anxious to try some programing. Many years ago I wrote G code for a Sharnoa (sp?) machine. The conversational method looks like it will be a lot nicer to use. :)

I have a vm 16 mill and have learned to run it with mc9. I keep hearing that the conv programming is very versitile. Glad to finally hear from someone who has been to the school.
I can't keep from thinking what the benefit will be using the conversational features of cent7 over mastercam???
Any thoughts would be apreciated.
Thanks
