Nicely done, ya oughta call it " The Green Machine" . Really! it looks tough. That spindle motor your using, where did you get that?

Thanks of the appraisal, the motor of the mandrel is old mini spindle that I used in order to pierce the electronic cards but I do not know more marks it, has compared it one some thirty of years ago.

I particularly like your placement of the Y axis drive motor.
Its out of the way and compact.
Good job.

I add to some photos of the last developments and tests for a small mandrel always realized with recovery materials.

And these are the tests for the small mandrel.

Did you make those tiny spindles? That looks like a really sweet idea for circuit board routing/drilling.

Hi Dag,

You have just made me a believer in DIY mill. I have been searching for a good diy plan for a mill. Looking at the awesome setup you have, gives me confidence to doing my own.

Can you explain how you calibrate the step movement of the motor via the belt to the long screw thingy in the middle of the table? I.e. one turn of the screw is equivalent to how much travel on the x,y and z axis? What I don't understand is that is there a standard diameter central screw guide to use in all cnc diy mill. If I use a different diameter center screw guide and with the same stepper motor, surely, the linear travel will change? Thanks in advance.

Alex

How much overall cost to set up and rub? thanks.

Hello Alex,
in order to calibrate the movement of the slitte, I proceed as he follows:
Screw TPN12P3 - Stepper 200 passes - 1,8 Deg To every crackdown I will have a movement of 3 milimeter, for having the precision that interests to me, 1/100 to entire step, or 5/1000 to means step;
I will have to divide the movement for 300/600 steps that, in my case are 3mm. To this point I can establish the number of the necessary teeth for the Motor pulley and the pulley Screw in base also to the measures available.
In mine caso(HTD-3M)ho used a pulley from 16 teeth on the motor, and from 48 teeth on the Screw I hope to me it are explained
hello Dario

Ciao Alex,
Vite TPN12P3 - Stepper 200 passi - 1,8 Deg
ciao Dario

Is this switch something you made or bought from a store? I am not sure if I understand your base that you have made for it. Could you give a little more info in this?

BTW, nice mill, you have done a very nice job in its contruction.

Finally someone who mounts the linear guides the right way to the table. By the way, extremely uge rails for that machine. That's good! :)

Well done Dag! Very nice looking machine.

In early days we had transluggable PC's
No here's a transluggable CNC mill.
Well Done!
Excellent photography too.

Unfortunately I do not speak well English, I do not succeed to understand the meant one of the word (transluggable), what means ?

lerman
01-25-2008, 03:39 PM
transluggabe is not a real word.

luggable (from lug: To pull with force; to haul; to drag along; to carry with
difficulty, as something heavy or cumbersome.)

transportable + luggable -> transluggable

Ken very thanks, then neilw20 probably wanted to know if my Mini-mill is transportable. I must say of, hung little more than 20 Kg.
